Laramie High School (LHS) is a high school (grades 10-12) in Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming, United States. In the Albany County School District, high school begins in the 10th grade (sophomore year); 9th grade (freshman) students attend a three-year Junior High School. In addition, many LHS students concurrently attend classes at Laramie County Community College (Albany County Campus), or the University of Wyoming. In 2005, Laramie High had some 786 students and 65 teachers.
Noted LHS alumni include Gerry Spence (noted trial lawyer, author, and television legal consultant), Marilyn S. Kite (Justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court) [1], and John S. Bugas (former FBI agent credited with breaking up two Nazi spy rings and deterring sabotage, and former director of industrial relations at Ford Motor Company). [2][3][4][5] State Representative Richard Honaker of Rock Springs graduated from Laramie High in 1969. He is a nominee to serve as a U.S. District Judge based in Cheyenne.
Laramie High School currently has an online Newspaper called CyberPlainsman.[6]
The LHS mascot is the Plainsman (female counterpart: Lady Plainsman).
